class description

Class begins with everyone sitting together (after we quick get our wiggles out) and we do a breathing exercise as we pass around a hoberman sphere. We all inhale as the ball expands and exhale as the ball collapses, just as our bellies do. Everyone gets a turn and during their turn they can introduce themselves and talk about how they are feeling. Then the first portion of instructed movement begins. Poses are held for shorter periods of time and are given fun names. After about 10-20 minutes (or as long as the children can focus) we play a breakout game. I bring bubbles, activity dice, and balloons. We also play 'yogi says', which is much like 'simon says'. I strive for about 30-45 minutes of instructed yoga, which are broken up with games, so class can last up to an hour. At the end of class we do another feelings check-in and mantras. Then I turn on the galaxy lights for savasana. Join Shelby the First Saturday of Each Month this Season: 11:00am to 12:00pm April 6 May 4 June 1 Note about the Human Conducting this Class: Shelby has been practicing yoga on her own for over a decade and even shares this passion with her six year old daughter. She enjoyed it so much - she became a certified children's yoga instructor. She has been teaching outside of her home for a little over a year ago. She loves that she can teach children the importance of mindfulness, breathwork, and yoga in a way that is playful, fun, and with friends. She preaches the science behind yoga and how it can help children (and adults) with anxiety, focus, and even increase self confidence. Additionally, she has an associates in early childhood development. Currently, she is enrolled in a bachelors for holistic nutrition and will go on to getting her masters in integrative nutrition. She hopes to work in pediatric holistic medicine. In the meantime, she plans to complete coursework in breathwork, sound healing, and aromatherapy and hopes to tie them in with her classes.
